On May 21, the 15th BRICS Ministerial Meeting on Trade and Economic Cooperation was held in Brasília, the capital of Brazil. The meeting was chaired by Brazilian Vice President and Minister of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, with trade ministers or representatives from BRICS member countries in attendance. Li Yongxuan, Deputy Representative for International Trade Negotiations of the Ministry of Commerce, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

The 2025 Council Meeting of the Belt and Road International Cooperation Mechanism for Disaster Prevention and Emergency Management was held on November 6 in Sanya, Hainan. At this meeting, Tonga, Zimbabwe, Georgia, Malawi, Gambia, Comoros, and Honduras were admitted as member countries to the cooperation mechanism.

On a construction site on the outskirts of Barueri, São Paulo State, Brazil, heavy trucks shuttle back and forth, with sections of steel chimneys imported from China neatly stacked. Soon, they will be assembled into part of a waste-to-energy plant, providing solid support for the local area to "turn waste into power".

Currently, the world is experiencing unprecedented changes unseen in a century, with the global economic structure undergoing in-depth adjustments and the development cooperation model transforming at an accelerated pace. Against this backdrop, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), as an important practical platform for China to promote the building of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind, is evolving from a "broad sketch" to a "detailed painting" and entering a new phase of high-quality development. The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China emphasized "promoting the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative", and the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee made strategic arrangements for "expanding high-level opening up and creating a new situation of win-win cooperation". It clearly proposed steadily expanding institutional opening up, safeguarding the multilateral trading system, expanding the international circulation, promoting reform and development through opening up, and sharing opportunities and developing together with countries around the world. It also emphasized actively expanding independent opening up, promoting innovative development of trade, expanding two-way investment and cooperation space, and jointly building the BRI with high quality. This provides clear strategic guidance and practical paths for enhancing the systematicness, sustainability and inclusiveness of BRI cooperation in the new era and deepening two-way investment and cooperation.

At the China-ASEAN Media and Think Tank High-Level Forum held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on April 11, Xinhua News Agency National High-End Think Tank released the think tank report titled "RCEP and the Maritime Silk Road Vision: New Space for China-ASEAN Cooperation".

Cooperate with Kazakhstan's National Technology Transfer Center to carry out the "Central Asia Solar PV Technology Assistance Program". Provide training on solar PV power plant construction and operation & maintenance technologies, train over 120 local technical personnel, and assist in building 2 10MW solar PV demonstration power plants. Expected to generate 180 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, it will alleviate the local power shortage.

Launch the "Southeast Asia Medical Equipment Technology Assistance Project". Cooperate with the China Association for Medical Devices Industry (CAMDI) to provide "basic medical equipment maintenance + diagnosis and treatment technology training" for Myanmar, Cambodia and other countries. Donate 100 sets of basic medical equipment, train over 180 local medical staff, and establish 3 medical technology demonstration centers to improve the local basic medical care level.

Launch the "Africa Agricultural Technology Assistance Program" in 2025. Cooperate with the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) to provide "smart irrigation technology + planting management training" for Kenya, Ethiopia and other African countries. Train over 200 local agricultural technicians, build 1,000 mu of smart irrigation demonstration fields, and it is expected to increase the local corn yield per mu by 40%, benefiting more than 500 farming households.

Cooperate with Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) to launch an "Exclusive Cross-Border Industrial Financing Solution", providing domestic enterprises with services such as low-interest loans and cross-border RMB settlement for their overseas projects. In 2025, it will offer financing support exceeding 4 billion yuan to 22 enterprises, among which 500 million yuan in cross-border RMB loans will be obtained through this solution for the expansion of factories in Southeast Asia.

Reach a "Cross-Border New Energy Project Investment Cooperation" agreement with the Silk Road Fund and establish a mechanism of "project screening - due diligence - co-investment". In 2025, the recommended "Middle East Solar Power Plant Cluster Project" secured a 300 million US dollar investment from the Silk Road Fund. Currently under construction in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and other countries, it is expected to be connected to the grid for power generation in 2026.
