In recent years, practical cooperation between China and Central Asian countries has yielded tangible results.
In terms of connectivity: The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway project has been officially launched; the planning of the third China-Kazakhstan railway is advancing steadily; and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor has been upgraded and expanded in capacity.
In terms of trade and investment: In 2024, the bilateral trade volume reached 674.15 billion yuan, doubling that of 2013.
In terms of people-to-people bonds: China has established 4 Luban Workshops and 5 TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) Overseas Centers in Central Asian countries, and the number of sister cities between the two sides has exceeded 100 pairs.
The Second China-Central Asia Summit achieved 110 cooperation outcomes. Below, I will focus on introducing two documents of your interest.
This is the first document on Belt and Road cooperation signed by China with all countries in a single neighboring region as a whole, marking a milestone. Through this document, China and Central Asian countries will carry out higher-quality cooperation in areas including strategic alignment, connectivity, trade and investment, green and low-carbon development, agricultural advancement, scientific and technological innovation, public health, and people-to-people exchanges. Going forward, we will actively promote the coordinated development of "hard connectivity", "soft connectivity", and "heart-to-heart connectivity", injecting new momentum and vitality into the building of a closer China-Central Asia Community with a Shared Future.
Central Asian countries are important connectivity hubs on the Eurasian continent and key transit countries for the China-Europe (Asia) Railway Express. As the first multilateral intergovernmental cooperation document focusing on international cooperation regarding the China-Europe Railway Express, the Initiative covers areas such as strengthening coordination in railway transport organization, enhancing customs clearance facilitation, improving infrastructure conditions, reinforcing security guarantees, and promoting trade and investment cooperation. In the next step, China will work with all parties to fully implement the Initiative, improve intergovernmental communication mechanisms, deepen cooperation on the China-Europe (Asia) Railway Express and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor, and promote the transformation of Central Asia from a "land-locked" region to a "land-linked" hub, making it a true "golden crossroads" connecting the Eurasian continent.
